Creativity mainly depends on moving away from functional fixedness. We should be open minded and look at things from different ways. We should search for other benefits rather than the original benefit. If we do not do so , creativity will vanish. simple things may create huge innovations if we started to reuse them in different way. This method saves time, money and effort. The video and the puzzle about functional fixedness really impressed me. This video reminded me of my old items. I used to collect boxes and bags to use them in keeping things. Also, I used to use my old colors pencils in decoration. That is exactly what we all have to do and apply in our life in order to be able to create something new, novel and useful. Children are great example of reusing items because they are still open minded and imaginative. So we should start learning from them to save our minds, money and life.

I am Maha Abdelrahman. I am 19 years old. I am a freshman. I have not declared yet but I want to major in business administration. Before taking this class, i thought that i am not creative at all. But later, I realized that every person is creative in his own way. We should use some certain techniques like Scamper or Pacme to come up with new ideas. We should also look at things from different ways. We should not be sticking to functional fixedness. But now I started to believe that I am a creative person now.
Reflection on class with an advertising expert
This is class was really interesting and useful to the extreme. Our guest today taught us many useful points. firstly, how we can prepare for the idea of the advertisements. This can be done through reading the brief about the product very well, understanding the client’s desire and determine your target. secondly, we should be able to create under hard situations not only luxury ones. Third, some techniques like exaggeration, simplicity, using music etc…. are useful according to the idea of the advertisements. So not all techniques can be used in any idea. Fourth, repetition may destroy your product not supporting it like same ideas and bringing same celebrities. Advertising is a clear example for creativity. Because you have to invent something new ,useful and attractive. Being taught practically is much more beneficial than reading books only. That’s what we have done in our class today. The fact that simple ideas lead to creativity is totally true because creativity always needs open minds. If you start looking at small things from different perspectives , then you will be able to invent awesome solutions for major problems. You need only to think, use all the information you have and work hard to create new ideas. It is not necessarily to be grown ups,well experienced or well educated to create because children have the best creative minds in the world.Of course these factors are fundamental for work and inventing but the most important item is different look at small issues. That little child not only saved his country or may be the whole world but also the lions. Because he saved lions from being hunted and he saved the cows from being killed. He used a small part from a piece of information to invent this creative idea.

We have always to think what we are going to do next. We should be knowledgeable about what we create or invent. Great achievements came from Pacme or Scamper method of thinking. we should implement them in all problem solving methods to reach useful,beneficial and wonderful idea at the end. We should be able to learn from past experience, questioning people and do not criticizing others. We have to remember our past and evaluate our progress. We should have the courage to change and do a new action which will change every thing . Just imagine and think. 
divergent thinking is safe and convergent thinking is risky based on video 8
Divergent thinking is s stream of ideas. In other words, giving ideas without eliminating or criticizing.Many people believes that divergent thinking is creativity. But they are extremely different. They are connected together because divergent thinking is a fundamental factor for creativity. we can measure the ability to create better with the more divergent thinking you have. Fluency, flexibility and originality are the basic points of divergent thinking. we should generate many unique ideas for one problem but we should be able to differentiate among them. The opposite for divergent thinking is convergent thinking. They are extremely different because divergent thinking mainly depends on generating and combining new different ideas and discovering new possibilities. But convergent thinking depends on the right answer, connecting similar ideas and protecting previous knowledge. So they completes each other. Divergent thinker generates the ideas and the convergent one works with the proper ideas. So we can not eliminate any one of them. 
where good ideas came from?
The most interesting part about this video is that the speaker began his words by saying that he spent long time to answer his question which means that we should think and work hard to achieve our goals. Good ideas need time to be created, developed and implemented. We may spend many years to get a new useful idea to use. The second interesting point is that we obtain interesting ideas by combining good ideas together. So many people can share their thoughts to invent new perfect idea. All the great projects are a result for combining ideas, sharing thoughts and hard working. Internet and technology have helped us a lot in sharing and combining ideas together.
being wrong is not a wrong
People always believe that they are right. They never accept the fact they may be wrong even for trivial things. They keep inventing facts and lies to support them. People always believe their inner feeling of being right but this feeling may lead to a disaster. Although, all subjects of science religion and modern techniques of technology proves that we all make mistakes but humans still insist that they are always right. People do that because they are afraid of being proven wrong. They may feel frustrated or disappointed or embarrassed. But what is more important is that we cannot also trust the feeling of being wrong. We have to be in the middle. Do not believe that you are extremely right or extremely wrong. We have to admit that we all make mistakes. We have to admit that someone may have a better idea because we need each other we are all complementary.

Schools teach you some basic pieces of information about many subjects of science. But they forgot to teach you what is creativity and how to be creative. There are fundamental tips for the creative person that I should have learned at school but fortunately,I have signed up for this course to learn them now because it is never too late to begin using your mind. Everyone is creative so we should not say that some people are lucky to be creative but creativity does not come from space you need to work hard several times to generate new ideas and work harder to achieve them. The more you work, the more your brain becomes active. Imagination is a key to creativity. Imagine your dreams and new ideas to be able to fulfill them. Another important technique of creativity is that there is no wrong answer. Censorship of ideas is the real cause of destruction for creativity. There is no certain answer that you should follow. We are humans, we have different kinds of thinking and we look at the world from different aspects.we should not stop when we have a good idea. We have to learn how doing divergent thinking. Let the stream of ideas begin and do not stop it. This is opposite to what experts may do. Experts do not use divergent thinking from its widest definition.They are negative in sometimes.the most important thing is to stop being biased towards your problems. be objective and start using your mind and do not be afraid of failure because it does not exist.these are some of the basics for creativity that we should learn and follow from this course to learn how to think differently.

this video mainly discusses the major problem which is associated with the traditional educational system which teaches the new generation using the old methods of teaching. this results in killing the ability to think and create in students,although,everyone was born with creativity. so the presenter introduced some solutions to rescue the new generation from imitation, memorization and failure. these solutions are team work ,change the habits of institutions and think differently about human capacity.
